The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation and District 204 honored Michael Rossi, an English teacher at Neuqua Valley High School, with the A+ Award.
You can watch the A+ Award team’s surprise visit to recognize Michael for “Making a Difference” at A+ Award video.
Neuqua Valley alumnus Kellyn Kory nominated Rossi, sharing how she looked forward to her last class each day because it was taught by Rossi.
“I grew to love poems that I would previously have been baffled by, to understand difficult literature and to pose philosophical questions toward everything in my life," Kory said. “I can only hope that I can one day be as influential, encouraging and wholly good as this remarkable man.”
A teacher for 13 years, Rossi started at Neuqua Valley in 2004. He is the assistant boys cross country coach and sponsors the school's Writer's Week. He was humbled being honored as an A+ Award recipient and credited the staff that surrounds him as pushing him be a better teacher.
“I had a lot of teachers who gave their best for me,” Rossi said. “I think it’s important that teachers pay that back.”
Wells Fargo Advisors is partnering with IPEF and District 204 to help recognize one staff member each month for making a difference for students. To celebrate these outstanding staff members, Wells Fargo Advisors is donating $500 for the staff member to use in his or her school.
