The Neuqua Valley Poms program consists of a JV and Varsity team. Teams
are open to grades
9-12. The teams perform at Football and Boys & Girls basketball games,
attend UDA Elite camp, compete at regional competitions and exhibition at
various events and school functions. Both JV and Varsity compete and
represent Neuqua Valley at Team Dance Illinois competitions.
Try-outs are held in June, after which teams will
start practicing and continue until camp (the end of June). The Poms season
lasts from June to March. There are no events held in July. Varsity
practices Monday, Wednesday & Thursday from 2:50 – 5:30 pm. JV Practices
from 2:50 – 5:00 pm Monday & Wednesday. On Friday, we hold a cardio day from
3:00 – 4:00 pm. Our competitions usually begin in December and are held
primarily on Sundays.
The team is composed of talented dancers who have a common interest in
performing. Each dancer displays strong technical ability and qualities
including hard work, dedication, and determination to strive for excellence.
Our goal is to bond as a team, strengthen our technique, perform as one, and
to mature as young adults. We strive to have strength of character, a good
attitude, and determination to succeed. We aspire to provide a support
system for each other, be good role models, have a strong work ethic, and be
respectful towards each other.

The Neuqua Valley Poms program is offering a workshop for all interested
participants. At the workshop, participants will review and refine skills
that will be judged at try-outs in June.
The workshops will be run by Coach Vranjes, Coach Feiter, and Coach
Bugielski. Each day, they will go over fundamentals of each skill judged at
tryouts; dancers will also learn across-the-floor combinations that will
benefit those who make the team. Personalized feedback and corrections will
be given to each dancer to improve their skills. A current sports physical
must be on file in order to participate.
