Mission
Special Olympics provides year- round sports training and competition in a
variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual
disabilities by giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical
fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing
of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics
athletes and the community.

Our Philosophy
We believe our student athletes deserve the best. The Neuqua Valley HS
Special Olympics program can help unite students, promote understanding and
build a sense of community. Neuqua Valley Special Olympics program supports
year-round sports training, inclusion, team-building and
character-development goals. This is what we do to insure we succeed.
We will provide exceptional service to student athletes.
Practice Policy and Transportation
If your son or daughter is not going to attend a
practice or competition and should go home on the bus, you are asked to let
Coach Kim Pehlke
know in Room D141 by the end of 1st hour. We ask that this notice be in
writing.
Transition students let them know and call or email
Coach Pierson
by the end of 2nd hour.
PRACTICES are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
2:30-4:00, no matter the season.
- Volleyball and Basketball practices are at the
GOLD CAMPUS with pickups there by the flag pole.
- Swimming and Track are at the MAIN CAMPUS with
pickup by Door 46 (pool doors)
- Bowling is at Brunswick Zone and pickups are
there by the N. Aurora Entrance.
Thank you for helping us by being at the pick up points
promptly at 4:00.
Except for bowling, appropriate practice clothes and shoes are necessary.
For games and meets outside of Naperville we will take a bus to
competitions.
If students are to go home with parents after away games they must sign
out with the coach.
Coaches will
- provide a quality program that maintains and improves
sports skills and fitness
- provide a safe and controlled behavior environment
- provide timely communication for events
- provide representation for student athletes’ voice with
administration
- provide leadership opportunities for student athletes
Coaches will involve families through fan and volunteer opportunities.
Effective communication, both internally and externally, remains a high
priority.
