Dear Coaches,
I speak for the students and staff of Neuqua Valley High School when I say how honored and
excited we are to host the 2008 IHSA State Individual Events Speech Contest. Six years ago,
Neuqua Valley teacher and speech coach David Scheidecker proposed that we approach the IHSA to make a bid to host this event. David was a teacher and coach who was embraced our school's mission as he was committed to excellence in all he did for his students both in and out of his classroom. He believed that bringing the best speech students and coaches in the state to Neuqua Valley was one more way that he could expose our young school community to the highest standards of excellence. Years later, with a student population that has grown over 1,000 students in that time, we still strive for excellence in all we do, and we honor David's memory as we make our final preparations to host you and your students as they “Go for the Gold” and reach the pinnacle of excellence in speech in Illinois. We look forward to seeing you in February and wish you and your teams all the best throughout the speech season.
